Incubator Entry Requirements

1) Preferably a business plan or business plan outline that, at a minimum, consists of the following:

   a. Description of the business, where it is located, and when it was formed.

   b. Identification of key resources (background information and/or resumes).

   c. Detailed description of products and/or services.

   d. If the business has benchmarked the competition, a description of how the business compares in terms of quality, service, and price.

   e. Description of the company’s unique niche. (In some cases, there may be a lack of the products   and/or services the business plans to offer, and, therefore, the business may not necessarily have a niche. If that is the case, the business plan should provide an explanation of how this conclusion was reached.)

   f. Description of how the business will market and sell its products.

   g. Identification and description of the greatest perceived risk and the recovery plan and/or safeguard to address this risk.

   h. Description of monthly projected expenses and sales by month over a period of three years.

   i. Description of how the business is funded.

2) The principals of the operation must agree to authorize UTB/TSC Campus Police to perform a criminal background check. We will only be informed as to whether the check cleared or did not clear. We will not know why. In the event a check does not clear, we can provide a contact if you wish to pursue the issue, as in the case of mistaken identity.

3) Based on the information provided in item number one, a recommendation is made for entry by the Program Director, and a 20-minute presentation is then scheduled for you to give to our Advisory Committee for final approval.

4) The final step is to sign a lease agreement of which more detail can be found in the “Incubator Advantages” document. Please note as part of the lease agreement, there is a liability insurance requirement. The certificate of insurance must be secured prior to being allowed entry into the space.
