Ms. Adela Garza was elected to the TSC Board of Trustees in June 2008. She grew up in Laredo and later moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley with her husband where they raised their family. Ms. Garza attended TSC in the 1980s and received a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree from The University of Texas-Pan American in 1987. Her professional life includes six years as a senior education consultant for Wasatch Education, and she is co-owner of Tino’s Prescription Shop and vice president of TIADEL Corp. Systems. Ms. Garza was on the board of Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District from 1999-2003, where she was board president in 2001-2003. She has been on several committees and councils at Los Fresnos ISD and has sat on boards including International Education Services, Sunshine Haven, Olmito Irrigation District #20 and Healthy Communities of Brownsville. Ms. Garza currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alternative South Texas Educator Program (ASTEP) and the Building Committee for Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Ms. Garza and her husband of 32 years, Faustino, have four children and two grandchildren. The youngest daughter is a sophomore at UTB/TSC.
