Parking News

Taylor Avenue and adjacent parking lots were closed this past weekend to make way for the construction of UTB/TSC’s new Arts Center. Approximately 250 parking spaces in the area behind the Fort Brown Memorial Center have been taken out of service. We know that eliminating this number of parking spaces on a commuter campus like ours will be a major inconvenience for our students, faculty, and staff. We sincerely regret this, and ask for your understanding and forbearance in the months to come. Physical Plant is doing everything possible to provide additional parking elsewhere on campus. We have resurfaced and re-striped approximately 125 spaces at the top of the Fort Brown peninsula near the Scorpion Body Shop. We have added another 40 spaces of temporary caliche-surfaced lots on Jackson Street. Work has started on two new permanent asphalt-surfaced parking lots on Jackson Street, with another 90 spaces. By the middle of March we will have replaced the lost parking spaces; but in locations perhaps somewhat less convenient. Attached is a map showing where the new parking is located. Please bear with us during the construction of the Arts Center, which will be one of the loveliest buildings on the UTB/TSC campus.
