In November 2004 the Texas Southmost College taxing district (Cameron County, including Brownsville ITD, Los Fresnos ISD and Point Isabel ISD) voted for a $68 million bond package to build new facilities on the UTB/TSC campus. Along with other revenue streams, this action will result in six new buildings, several remodeling projects and various capital improvements. New construction projects:
New Library & Oliveira Library to redefine the functions of the Oliveira Library and to expand and address new technology in the New Library. Under construction Classroom Building to provide medium and large lecture halls to accommodate growing enrollment. Under construction ITEC Campus remodeling to create a modern facility to focus on international technology, education and commerce. Under renovation The Arts Center that includes practice rooms and a recital hall to meet the needs of the growing music programs. Under construction Center for Early Childhood Studies to serve three-to-five year-old children while providing hands-on learning for UTB/TSC education and child care students. Under construction Science and Technology Learning Center dedicated to research and outreach focusing on health problems that concern our community. Groundbreaking date pending
Completion of the new University Boulevard parking lot with 1,200
parking spaces for students, faculty and staff.
