Aracely Alvarez was hired by the UTB/TSC Academic Advising Center on February 12, 2004 and will provide academic advising information to high school and entering college students.  Aracely Alvarez  will also assist with Tran scripting of Tech Prep students articulated credits at the college.

A plan of action is being developed to focus on the job for  the Tech Prep advisor.  Plan of action to include:

*general academic advising

*assisting Tech Prep students entering UTB-TSC

*establishing connections with technical departments at UTB-TSC

*establishing connections with independent school districts

Mini Grant

UTB/TSC Tech Prep Office was named recipient of the 2004 Staff Development Minigrant.  UTB/TSC was awarded $2,000 for activities to be conducted by a Professional Development Team comprised of Irma S. Jones, Business Technology Faculty, UTB/TSC, and Flor Leticia Trevino, Business Teacher, Porter High School, BISD.  The team will participate in a conference and develop a handbook showcasing eight-year Tech Prep educational plans at UTB/TSC.  The resulting handbook will  be shared during Tech Prep RGV’s 2004 Conference.
