Writing Lab

MRCN 120

Our goal at the Writing Lab, located in North 120, is to assist and guide students to become better writers. We can help you with your writing assignments in any course at all steps of the writing process.

We offer strategies to overcome writer's block, suggest methods for writing an essay and provide assistance with basic grammar rules.  In addition, we can assist you in using the online library databases and internet to begin gathering sources for your research. Our staff is knowledgeable in both MLA and APA formats.

Two ways to access writing tutoring during hours of operation:
• Walk-in service on a first-come, first serve basis
• By appointment M-Th (See details)
Tutoring sessions are 30-40 minutes long. Although students may have more than one session each day on a walk-in basis, students are discouraged from attending consecutive sessions because covering excessive material at once can be overwhelming and compromise the quality of their learning.
When you come to the Writing Lab, be sure to bring a copy of your assignment and any other materials that might be helpful, like your textbooks, notes, faculty instructions and previously graded essays. These materials can save time by helping to focus the tutoring session.
