A Letter from the Director of Student Success:

Dr. Beatriz Becerra

Greetings! We are excited you are visiting the Student Success Center website and hope that you find the programs and services that will meet your needs. There is nothing more important to us than helping students accomplish their personal and academic goals. Therefore, I am delighted to serve as the Director of Student Success (SCC), one of the most important efforts to support students in their journey to earning a college degree and discovering their purpose in life.

In collaboration with faculty and staff the SCC provides programs and services that support each student’s academic pursuits in an effort to enhance retention and graduation rates. The Center fulfills its mission by administering a variety of integrated programs that provide an educational pipeline for students to ensure academic success. 

SSC is located in Cardenas Hall North122 and North Annex. Our facilities include several labs including a computer lab, math lab, reading lab, writing lab and a language lab. Programs and services provided include:

• Tutoring
• Supplemental Instruction
• Series of Success Workshops
• Career Counseling
• One-on-One Academic Counseling
• Childcare & Transportation Services
• Early Alert Mentorship Program

Our operating philosophy is simple. We believe “every student can learn, and every student can graduate.” In the coming years we expect to retain more than 70% our first-year students and graduate more than 90% of our students after 6 years. We invite all academic departments, faculty, staff, students, parents, and members of our community to join us on our quest to produce graduates of UTB/TSC.
