What exactly is the Student Success Center (SSC)?
SSC was created to bring together student support services from Student Affairs that offer tutoring, mentoring and other services meant to improve academic success. By working together, we can share resources and plan more effectively.
Where is SSC located?
It’s on the first floor of Mary Rose Cardenas Hall North. Each department within SSC has it's own location, but the main office is located at the North Annex, where the arches face the parking lot. For the different locations of each component, see below:
ASPIRE is in MRCN 112
Career and Academic Counseling is in MRCN Annex 103
CAMP is in MRCN 103
Learning Enrichment is in MRCN 122
Veterans Upward Bound is in MRCN 122
How much does it cost to access services?
Our services are provided at no additional charge to students.
Can SSC help me if I have a learning disability?
Yes. We will be glad to help you just like any other student to the best of our ability. The same policies apply regarding the amount of time spent per student and what we can and cannot do. We are able to offer tutoring, mentoring, and career/academic counseling but we cannot serve as a scribe. A scribe can be obtained through the Office of Disability Services, located at the Lightner Center, near the library. Contact Steve Wilder at (956) 882-7374 or steve.wilder@utb.edu. If a scribe or interpreter is needed, he/she must accompany the student.
