Early Alert Mentorship Program

This program was piloted in the fall of 2007 with the purpose to first ensure that students achieve learning success while experiencing academic challenges in college, and secondly, to establish a solid foundation for successful future learning. The ultimate goal is to increase student retention and timely graduation The Early Alert Mentorship coordinators, identified the top 40-50 “at- risk” currently enrolled students whose GPA is below a 2.00. These students were matched with volunteer faculty and staff mentors who will assist to:

  • “Decode” the academic jargon
  • Support networking activities that encourage more involvement in college life
  • Provide opportunities to grow in the knowledge and skills necessary for academic success
