WELCOME
The STEMS Alumni Association fosters opportunities for students and citizens to learn about higher education and its benefits. The organization supports university related goals and teaches students concepts in a variety of education disciplines.
Members are engaged in community service, volunteer projects, fund raising, and field experiences to support higher education and civic programs. It assists with setting up events, activities, field experiences and workshops.
Major focuses are related to disciplines, but not exclusive to engineering, math and science. In addition, the STEMS Alumni Association provides opportunities for professionals to expose the students and Association provides opportunities for
professionals to expose the students and communities to a variety of career opportunities, teamwork and professional development.
The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code,
or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

The STEMS Alumni
Association
scholarships are
established to
promote and
encourage
interest in
education for
the students
planning to
enroll at The
University of
Texas at
Brownsville and
Texas Southmost
College
(UTB/TSC), to
reduce the
student's
financial
obligation
toward education
and to recognize
student involved
with the STEMS
Program and
STEMS Mentor
Club.
Scholarships are
considered gift
aid and do not
require
repayment.

Govea Memorial
Scholarship

given towards a
student who has
performed
migrant work or
whose parents
have performed
migrant work
- preference is
given towards a
student who
shows need of
scholarship in
order to attend
class
- student must
have a final
year GPA of 2.5
or above
- student must
be an incoming
freshman at a
college of
his/her choice
