Welcome to the STEMS web site. We hope you will use this site to learn more about our program. In here, you can find information about the STEMS Program, STEMS Mentor Club, SHPE, and MAES. We are working hard to provide K-16 students and our communities the opportunities to learn more about engineering, math and science.

HISTORY
The STEMS Program was established in 1999 through a grant from NASA. As proposed to NASA, UTB/TSC and local school districts institutionalized the program in 1997. Currently, funds from UTB/TSC, the participating schools and other organizations are utilized to provide higher education, career awareness and other educational oppotunities for K-16 students.
MISSION
The South Texas Engineering, Math and Science (STEMS) is established to serve as a university outreach program which works on promoting higher education to youth in K-16 and communities in South Texas.
September 11 & 12, 2009: Kayak Fishing Tournament
September 26, 2009: Texas Adopt a Beach and SPI World Birding Center Grand Opening. Come and have fun with us by helping at the beach and enjoy educational activities.
September 27-October 3, 2009: HESTEC
October 10, 2009: Resaca de la Palma State Park Volunteering Project.
October 17, 2009: "Run Along the Border" 10th Annual 5k Run/Walk & 1-Mile Run/Walk. At UTB/TSC Campus by the Annex Gym. To download registration form CLICK HERE.
October 28-November 1, 2009: SHPE Conference - Washington, DC
November 4-7, 2009: MAES Symposium - Las Vegas, NV
November 13-15, 2009: Central Texas Field Experience.
December 2009: NASA Training for January Event. Students will visit NASA Space Johnson Space Center in Houston and get trained to help with UTB/TSC's NASA Space Science Day.
December 27-30, 2009: Mexico Trip to Rancho del Cielo in the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, Tam. Students will be involved in learning about ecology, environmental science, history, geology, astronomy, college mentoring, first-aid and writing.
January 15-16, 2010: NASA Space Science Day.
Established at UTB/TSC in 1999, the STEMS Mentor Club provides opportunities for college students to be involved with K-12 students & communities by assisting with all STEMS Program goals and objectives. Members volunteer hundreds of hours every year and receive training for all events, activities and field experiences.
