The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)

Mission
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), a unit in the Office of The Vice President for Research at The University of Texas at Brownsville, promotes, supports and administers sponsored program awards. OSP serves as a central resource to support sponsored programs, and provides Pre and Post-Award services in generating and administering external awards in the pursuit of research, scholarly activities and public service. OSP ensures that the administration of sponsored program is consistent with applicable laws, regulations and policies.

OSP provides the following services:

• review and interpretation of the terms and conditions of funding instruments
• submission of  proposals for external funding;
• review and negotiation of awards prior to acceptance
• serve as a liaison between sponsor agencies and the University
• professional development training
• assistance with sponsor award requirements

CURRENT

Services
The mission of the OSP is to provide the following services:

• proposal submission and grant administration training;
• review and submit all university endorsed applications for external sponsored funding;
• review, negotiate, and accept awards on behalf of the University;
• award compliance training and certification;

• coordination of institutional review boards for research with human and animal subjects and for biosafety.
