Introductory Activity

Create a PowerPoint presentation about yourself. Since most of us don't know each other very well this will be a nice way for each of us to know more about one another. With this objective in mind, you will create a PowerPoint presentation about yourself and you will save it. You will then e-mail your presentation as an attachment to phb3498@utb.edu. Included in your presentation, please include a picture of yourself . Please limit yourself to at least 10 slides and have at least 5 slides for your presentation. See a sample of this project.

OBJECTIVES:

By completing this project, students in the class, will be able to:

Create a Student Profile using PowerPoint and share with the class. Incorporate an image of them and/or your work environment and insert it into your presentation and deliver their presentation to the class and e-mail it to the listserv.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Create your presentation by using PowerPoint. Include information about where you work and what you do, and your educational objectives (i.e. what you are studying for and what you plan to do with your degree upon completion). You may also include information about your family, hobbies, and interests. SAVE THIS FILE AS "A:/IntroductoryActivity"

2. You will need to include at least one photograph of yourself and/or a photograph of your work place. If you do not have access to a scanner you can take your photos to an office photocopy center such as Kinko's Copies or to a Photo Finishing Lab such as the ones located in HEB food stores. For a nominal fee they can scan your images and save them for you onto a floppy disk. Make sure that all photos are saved in either GIF or JPG format.

3. After you have created your presentation you will be asked to present it to the class Jan 23rd. This should only take 5 to 7 minutes.

DELIVERABLES:

Your personal profile should be saved on a diskette and should contain the following items:

a description of the type of work you do (setting, position, duties, responsibilities, etc)
a description of your educational goals (what degree are you currently working for and what you plan to do with it once you obtain it)
a recent picture of yourself (in GIF or JPG format)
