Educational Talent Search
Welcome to Educational Talent Search

Staff: Leo Villarreal

Leo Villarreal is the Director for the Talent Search program.  He has been with the program since 2000.  Leo began as an Academic Advisor, was promoted to Student Development Specialist, and is now the Program Director.  Before coming to Talent Search, Leo worked with the summer youth program at the Texas Workforce Commission, and with the Brownsville Independent School District.  Leo enjoys working with the students and goes out of his way to help all current and former ETS students to achieve their educational goals.

Leo was born in Limestone, Maine and raised in Brownsville, Texas.  He attended the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Government.  He completed his Master’s Degree in the same field in August of 2004, and plans to further his education.

Leo believes that a student’s education begins at an early age and by participating in organizations such as Talent Search, students will learn responsibility, commitment, communication, and respect. In addition, Leo is an adjunct professor for UTB/TSC teaching Government courses in the evenings.  He is also involved with the Brownsville Opportunity Youth Soccer Association.  Leo Coaches his son’s soccer team, attends meetings with board members, and helps the association with fundraising.

“All of us do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.”
