The Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS) is a four-year college preparatory program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored by The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College.

The UBMS program enhances math and science knowledge through project based learning experiences and creates an opportunity to explore math and science careers through workshops and field experiences.

Those who are selected for participation must be willing to dedicate themselves to hard work and commitment to the project.

The Upward Bound Math and Science Program will also assist high school students to become successful college students through dual and concurrent enrollment, and to become positive role models in their respective communities.
In spring 2006, two UBMS students achieved a great goal by graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree prior to graduating from high school.
