University Posting Policies for Student Organizations

The Office of Student Life would like to advise you as to the posting policies on campus. Signs/Flyers are allowed on campus only in designated areas. Publicity should be creative, attractive, and of high quality. Double and triple check the information for accuracy. Publicity should always include the day of the week, date, time, description of activity, location, rain date/location (if applicable), admission price (if any), sponsor (Registered Student Organization name/email address/phone), and a person to contact if special accommodations or more information are needed.

The following guidelines apply for publicly posting signs/flyers on university property:

• Signs/flyers may NOT be posted on glass, windows, doors, fences, trees, shrubs, lamp poles, telephone poles, columns, car windows, trash cans, or other physical structures on campus.

• Signs/Flyers can only be posted on bulletin boards.

• An organization may only post two signs/flyers per bulletin board.

• Signs/Flyers must be attached to the boards only with tacks, staples and, tape (glue is absolutely prohibited)

• Signs/Flyers may NOT be larger than 11”x17.

• Do not destroy or deface other organizations' posters

• Our recommendation is to have members pass out quarter or half page flyers to students. (Contact our office about copy services available to all registered student orgs.

Signs/Flyers may be posted only on approved bulletin boards inside classroom bulletin boards or hallways. A bulletin board is under the jurisdiction of the college, school, department, or administrative office that maintains it. A student organization shall contact to the appropriate college, school, department, or administrative official for permission to use a bulletin board, and shall not use a bulletin board without such permission.

An organization must remove each of its signs/flyers no later than 14 days after posting or within 24 hours after the event to which it relates has ended, whichever is earlier. When the organization removes its own signs/flyers, they should also remove other outdated material on the bulletin boards. When posting your signs/flyers please remember your organization may be asked to pay for damages that result from improper posting. All improperly posted signs/flyers are subject to removal. Violations of the sign posting policy are subject to review and potential disciplinary action for the student organization.

Please help keep your home/campus attractive.  When people see your flyers creating a mess or obstruction it reflects poorly on your organization and the university.
