The
purpose of the STING Assessments is to improve
education and society by enhancing knowledge
regarding student development and first year
experiences. Our surveys serve as tools that
inform us about the needs and behaviors of our
students. Specific attention is paid to the
influence of environmental factors ( e.g.,
educational interventions, peer relationships,
diverse interactions, student services, and
co-curricular involvement) on student development.
Results contribute to a fuller understanding of
college students developmental needs, knowledge on
how to improve programs and services, and a
foundation from which to build future research.
METHOD
Data
was collected from all STING course sections .
Partial population samples were obtained
encompassing 59% of the total population ( 600
students total). The questionnaire used was a web
based survey instrument designed to measure outcomes
and perceptions on several program and service
aspects. Data was collected for a week
starting on November 18, 2006 and reflect 367
participants.
