Student Regent

In 2005, the 79th Texas Legislature (in SB 1227) authorized the Governor to appoint a nonvoting student regent for each university or university system. To aid the Governor in his selevtion, the chancellor of each university system must recommend students based on applications submitted by each president on behalf of the institution's student government organization. Here are the application materials to be used by all institutions within The University of Texas System. Included is the UT System Application for Student Regent, as well as a list of required activities.

On or before November 1st of each year student government bodies shall solicit applicaants for the position of student regent using this application form.

Student Representative to Coordinating Board

Per 61.0225 of the Education Code, the Governor shall appoint a non-voting student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinationg Board for a term not to exceed one year beginning on June 1 and ending on May 31 the following calendar year. The student representative shall enjoy the same rights as a regularly appointed board member, except the right to vote or be counted towards a quorum for official board business. The student representatives serves without compensation, however shall be reimbursed expenses incurred during official board business.
