Why should I attend Scorpiontation?

As a new incoming student, Scorpiontation gives you a distinct advantage by providing you with numerous opportunities to interact with other new students, meet current students who 'know the ropes,' and meet experienced faculty and staff. As a Scorpiontation participant, you also recieve individualized assistance with getting to know the campus, have your questions answered about your indended major and student life, wll the while getting exposure to all the resources available to you.

What are the dates for Scorpiontation?

All dates are Wednesday & Thursday unless otherwise stated.  You must attend both dates to receive orientation credit.

 

On-Campus Schedule:

Wednesday, Day 1- 2:00 – 7:30 p.m.

7:30 – 9:30p.m. - Food, Fun, & Games (optional)

 

Thursday, Day 2- 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

2:30 –- 5:00 p.m. - Advising & Registration  (only for those who still need to be advised or registered).

How do I register for Scorpiontation?

Scorpintation is a two-part program. The first step is a pre-orientation online segment, and once successfully completed, step two will be an on-campus orientation.

You will only be allowed to register for your on-campus orientation by completing the pre-orientation online. Once you have successfully completed your on-line segment of orientation, you will be able to select a date and register for your on-campus session.

Can I come to my on-campus orientation without doing the on-line segment?

No. The only way you can register for your on-campus orientation is by successfully completing your online pre-orientation. When you have completed all the segments, only thenw ill you be allowed to choose and register for a date.

How much does it cost?

$50 per student.

Your orientation fee covers expenses for the program, such as lunch and materials given to you. This fee will be charged to your student tuition for your entering Summer or Fall semester. This fee is non-refundable. If you cancel or do not show on your rgistered date, there is an aditional cancellation / no-show fee of $15.

Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Can my parents attend Scorpiontation?

Family members are welcome to attend Scorpiontation. Basic information regarding university policy, housing, financial aid, and student services will be covered. A campus tour will also be given.

Please note that family members will not be accompanying the students throughout the day. Students and family memebers will be in separate information sessions.

You will have the opportunity to register a family memeber once you have successfully completed your pre-online orientation.

Each family member has a registration fee of $10 and this fee will also be added to your Statement of Charges.

How early should I arrive to Scorpiontation?

Your on-campus orientation starts at 9 a.m. We recommend you arrive at 8:30 because there is a reuired sign in process. Do not worry, juice and donuts will be waiting for you!

Do transfer, returning or graduate students need to attend?

Only transfer students with under 30 college credits must attend Scorpiontation. Returning students with more than 3 semesters absent must attend Scoropiontation, and new incoming graduate students, who have not been UTB/TSC students before must also attend Scorpiontation. However, all are welcome to attend if they wish.

I missed my on-campus Scorpiontation date, can I attend the next one available?

If space is available, yes. There is however, a 'no show / rescheduling' fee of $15 to register for the next available orientation.

I am trying to register for classes but I am blocked, why?

There could be a variety of reasons causing you to be blocked. Did you complete all of your admissions requirements for UTB/TSC? Did you leave Scorpiontation early & not receive credit for it? Do you owe any tuition or university fees?

Do I have to stay for the entire Scorpiontation?

Yes. If you leave orientation early you will not get credit for having attended and will have to reschedule & pay again.

Can I go out for lunch?

No. A delicious lunch will be provided for you.

I have already registered for classes. Do I have to come to Scorpiontation?

Yes. Scorpiontation is a mandatory requirement. If you do not attend Scorpiontation a block will be placed on your name which will prohibit you from registering or adding / dropping clsses or recieving grades.
