Why would I want to have a LAMP Peer Mentor?

Eligibility for the Leadership and Mentorship Program

Applications to the Leadership and Mentorship Program are available to all enrolled UTB/TSC Students .  Applications are mailed to select incoming freshmen or students are recruited at orientation seminars.  Invitations are not based on the student admission profile. Students who do not receive an application may request one.

Admission Requirements:

  • Must be a fully-admitted UTB/TSC student beginning university-level studies at UTB/TSC in a semester.
  • May be planning to participate in Sorority or Fraternity recruitment, clubs, or other programs like STING, CAMP, ASPIRE.

Selection Process:

  • Completed applications must be received in the LAMP office by either mail, fax or in person.  
  • Applications are taken on a first come first serve basis.
  • Applicants may be asked to provide additional information during the process.  Requests will be made to e-mail accounts.  Applicants should check e-mail accounts regularly.
  • Decisions about placement in the program, or placement on the program waiting list, are made in prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
  • Applicants are notified of all results by e-mail.
  • Students must commit to full participation in both mentor meetings  and college skills workshops for an entire semester.   
  • To claim an offered space, applicants must return enrollment materials in a timely manner, attend a mentee orientation before school starts.
  • Wait-listed students are notified if a space becomes available. There are 80 slots available in the LAMP Program.
