
Faculty/Staff Mentor Program
About the Program
The objective of the Faculty/Staff Mentor Program is to improve retention rates and make students feel connected to our campus. Faculty/Staff Mentors will act as a guide to entering freshman on campus. Over the course of an academic year, mentors and mentees will meet in various settings that include socials, luncheons and campus events. Mentors and mentees will also communicate regularly through email. The program encourages mentors to build a caring relationship with their mentee so that they may be able to develop to to their highest potential. This vision reflects the program's philosophy that education is a living and learning experience where mentors and mentees engage with and learn from each other.
Primary Objectives
Increase Retention Rates for UTB/TSC Students
Increase students knowledge of services offered by UTB/TSC
Enhance the professional experience of mentors through an opportunity to remain aware of comtemprary student culture, issues, and attitudes.
Facilitate student and faculty/staff interaction outside of the classroom
Commitment
Meet once a week the first month of the semester and after the first month meet twice a month till the semester ends.
Participate in the program for a minimum of two semesters.
