Renting/Leasing An Apartment

If you decide to rent an apartment or condominium make sure you follow these procedures:
Look for an apartment that meets your budget and your needs. Ask as many questions as necessary when looking for one.

  • Make an application for the apartment of your choice.
  • Make only one application.
  • Ask if there is an application fee.
  • Ask if you are committed to rent it if you make an application?
  • Once you decide to rent the apartment of your choice and your application is approved, you will have to pay a security deposit in advance. This deposit is usually returned to you after you move out of the department, provided you paid your rent on time and that you left the place in the same condition you found it.
  • Be careful and read the contract (including small print) before you sign it.
  • Inspect the apartment and make sure it is not damaged and that all the appliances are working.   Report any damage or broken items to your landlord.
