Other Services Provided

Crisis Counseling: The Counseling staff respond to all mental health crisis situations on campus. Immediate appointments are made available for students exhibiting significant levels of distress. The Counseling staff are also available for after hours consultation for the students living in campus housing.

 

Psychological Assessment: Pyschological assessment is offered to help with diagnostic evaluation and also for learning disabilities. Ongoing evaluations are also conducted to monitor therapeutic progress and outcome.

 

Referral: The Counseling staff provide faculty, staff and students with referrals to private and state offices in the community. The staff keep an updated referral guide which helps guide individuals to additional community services.

 

Presentations / Seminars: The Counseling staff are available to provide seminars and outreach programs to student groups, faculty, and other offices. This is an important medium for promoting student adjustment and development. Some preparation time for requests for these services is usually required (about two to four weeks) to accommodate staff schedules. Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following: stress management, time management, communication, intimate partner violence, adjustment to college, and test anxiety resolution.
