UTPA hosted its second annual South Texas Shootout that involved four South Texas colleges which included TSTC, STC, UTB-TSC, and UTPA. Each college was represented by two teams which competed in pool play where the top seeds then competed in a 4 team shootout bracket.   

UTB-TSC was represented by the champions of our intramural tournament UTB Most Wanted and our runners up Blue Devils. Eight teams would be divided into two pools which would host one team from each school in each pool.  Both teams would show great efforts in each pool that both teams were placed in. UTB would have both teams enter the semi-final games by winning two out of the three games to qualify. The two teams entering the semi-final game would be both UTB and UTPA teams. UTB Most Wanted would be the only team to advance to compete in the championship game versus the stronger of the two UTPA teams. The game was within two points practically the entire length of the game. UTB Most Wanted won the contest though in a last min surge of explosive offensive attacks lead by Luis Uresti, Bobby Gaytan, and Luis Urqutia. Manny Vasquez and Dave Smith provided offensive and defensive support for the Most Wanted team as well. More support was provided by Jamie San Miguel, Shawn Divine, Alex Salinas, and Roel Gutierrez. The game would end with the final score UTB Most Wanted 68, UTPA 59.  The team achieved a great victory in the eyes of the players and fans as they were admired for the hustle, undaunted perseverance, and their sportsmanship and demeanor on and off the floor.
