General Description Teaching Environmental Science is a course that provides K-12 teachers with an opportunity to learn how to teach environmental science and at the same time learn environmental science content and about the environmental resources within their community. Throughout the course the students will participate in field activities that help them to apply teaching methods and evaluation techniques that are appropriate for assessing experiential learning activities. Students will have an opportunity to meet with environmental agencies and environmental education providers to learn first hand about their their role in maintaining and promoting a healthy environment. The most exciting part of the course is the field trips taken by teachers and future teachers to actual environmental sites. Here they see what these organizations and individuals are doing and gain first-hand knowledge and experience in a variety of habitats.
