
Because of the highly technical nature of the Radiologic Technology program, admission requirements are more rigid than for entrance into the general programs offered by UTB/TSC. Requirements for admission to the Radiologic Technology program are as follows:
- Admission to UTB/TSC (acceptance does not necessarily guarantee acceptance to the Radiologic Technology Program)
- Completion of Application for Admission to the Radiologic Technology Program.
- Test score results - ACT Exam.
- Transcripts of all previous high school or college work or GED scores.
- Prerequisites: BIOL 2301, 2101, 2302, 2102 and HPRS 1204, 1101, 1106
Students will be selected from the applicant pool based on scores from the ACT test and grades in the following courses: Human Anatomy and Physiology I (Biology 2301), Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BIOL 2302), College Algebra (MATH 1314), and Composition I (ENGL 1301). While College Algebra and Composition I are not prerequisites for admission, good grades in these courses could raise your ranking in the applicant pool.
Note:
- A physical exam, up-to-date immunizations and CPR Certification are required of all students prior to clinical assignments Student Health Services.
- Criminal background checks will be required of all Allied Health students prior to clinical assignments.

Mission Statement
Consistent with the Mission of The University of Texas at Brownsville the faculty of the Radiologic Technology Program is committed to serving the educational needs of the citizens of Cameron and surrounding counties. This mission will be fulfilled by providing quality instruction, preparing the graduate to be successful on the National Certification Examination, preparing the graduate with employable skills as an entry level radiographer, and providing the opportunity to participate in higher education such as the emerging advanced modalities.
Program Goals
1. The program will graduate a student with knowledge and technical skills necessary for the position of an entry level technologist. Upon completion of the program, all students will demonstrate the ability to comprehend, apply and evaluate information relevant to their roll as a Radiologic Technologist. (Cognitive Domain and Psychomotor Domain)
2. The program will enroll qualified applicants who upon graduation will be successful on the National Certification Examination.
3. The program will provide training to meet the changing needs of the industry by preparing students in a two-year Radiologic Technology Program leading directly to gainful employment. Upon completion of the program, all students will demonstrate personal behaviors consistent with professional and employer expectations for a Radiologic Technologist. (Affective Domain)
4. Upon completion of the program all students will be able to communicate effectively, think analytically and be intellectually adaptive in a healthcare setting.
5. The program will provide the opportunity for students to participate in continuing education.

The UTB/TSC Radiologic Technology Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 20 North Wacker Drive, Suite 900, Chicago, Illinois 60606-2901.
