Deans’ Council Meeting, March 11, 1999

Present: Ray Rodrigues (presiding), José Martín, Doug Ferrier, Marilyn Dyer, Wayne Lewis, Betsy Boze, Mimosa Stephenson, Victor Fuhro, Farhat Iftekharuddin, Carolyn Green

1. Policy: 7.5.2 Role & Responsibilities of Department Chairs: Betsy Boze led a review of the proposed policy revision.  The policy is on the agenda for the next Academic Senate meeting.  Betsy will give Pilar the changes recommended by members.

2. Policy: 7.4.2 The Greater Duties of a Member of the Teaching Staff: Ray Rodrigues led a review of a proposed revision to the policy.  Members recommended changes in terminology (using “faculty” rather than “teaching staff”, “probationary” rather than “tenure-track”), restructuring, and typographical errors.

3. Policy: 7.5.3 The Dean of a College/School: Members reviewed the latest draft of the revised policy, suggesting that it be restructured to follow the outline used in the revised policy concerning department chair responsibilities (7.5.2).
