Introduction: |
This story is about two children who are being raised by
their widowed father. In order to fill the void in their lives the father decides to put an add in the paper in search of a wife. A lady named Sarah responds to the letter. After several correspondences she decides to live with the family on a trial basis in order to find out if they will be a suitable family for her.

Task: |
The students will find one possible route Sarah could have taken in order to find her way from Maine to Kansas. The students will also make a travel brochure to convince Sarah why Kansas will be an appealing place to live. After each chapter the students will illustrate and summarize what the chapter was about. After completion of the
summaries, the students will illustrate a book cover
reflecting their opinion of the story. The students will develop
a vocabulary list with the definitions and log them in their journal.
