Murray Papers Given to

The papers of the late Menton Joseph Murray, Sr.
(1907-1989) will become part of the Archival Collection at UT Brownsville and
Texas Southmost College. This is the first historical collection given to the
university.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas at
Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. Martín comes as the most highly
recommended candidate of the search committee, which consisted of fourteen
members representing a cross section of the University.

Provost Steps Down to Return to Teaching

Dr. Raymond Rodrigues, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at
the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College,
recently announced that he will be stepping down from his post to assume
his new role as Professor of English.
“I’ve spent many rewarding years as an administrator, here at
UTB/TSC and at other schools throughout the nation. This experience has
been very meaningful to me, both professionally and personally. However,
my heart has always been in the classroom and I feel it is now time to
resume my role first and foremost as a teacher.”

Campirano Appointed to TSC Board of Trustees

Eduardo A.Campirano has been appointed to the Texas Southmost College Board of Trustees to
fill the vacancy left by former Trustee Prax Orive. Mr. Orive died last March after a
battle with cancer. Campirano was appointed by the board at their meeting in December. He
will be sworn in later this month.
