Local High School Students Present at National Meeting
A Team of area high school students presented their research at the 211th meeting of the American American Astronomical Society Wednesday, Jan. 30. The students were trained at the UTB/TSC Arecibo Remote Command Center.

Campus to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.
The late Martin Luther King, Jr. will be honored at “An Evening of Celebration” Wednesday, Jan. 30. George McShan, former president of both the Texas Association of School Boards and the National School Boards Association will be the guest speaker for the evening.

President’s Leadership Lecture features Genomics Scholar
Renowned genomics and society scholar, Dr. Wilmot Godfrey James will make the senses come alive with his presentation, “Living in the World of Fragrance and Smell: The Molecular Biology of Olfaction,” Monday, Jan. 28. Admission is free and open to the public.

Former Mexican foreign minister to speak at UTB/TSC
Jorge G. Castaneda, Ph.D., the 2007 Distinguished Lecture Series speaker returns to campus to lecture and sign copies of his new book, “Ex Mex: from Migrants to Immigrants” Monday, Jan. 28.

Patron of the Arts Events This Month
Music and photography highlight Patron of the Arts as the 23rd season continues. Marimba Nandayapa performs in concert on Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan.26 and “Black and White”, a photography exhibit opens Monday, Jan. 28.

Professors partner on new education textbook
Three faculty members have co-edited “Diverse Learners in the Mainstream Classroom: Strategies for Supporting ALL Students Across Content Areas”, a special student populations textbook that will be published in mid January.

Students Invited to Meet UT Law School Dean
Larry Sager, dean of The University of Texas School of Law, will meet with students interested in applying to the law school, Thursday, January 17 in the Science and Engineering Technology Building, 3rd floor conference room.

Spring Convocation marked with words of guidance, progress
It will take the work of all faculty and staff to help students succeed academically. That was the President’s message at the annual Spring Convocation on Friday, Jan. 11.

Classes Begin Monday
Late registration for the spring semester ends Sunday, Jan. 13. The staff in the Office of New Student Relations is available to help students interested in enrolling for the spring semester.
