MLAB 1211 Urinalysis and Body Fluids

COURSE LEVEL:  Introductory

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
An introduction to urinalysis and body fluid analysis, including the anatomy and physiology of the kidney, and physical, chemical, and microscopic examination of urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other body fluids. Lec 1, Lab 4, Cr 2.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The student will evaluate the suitability of clinical specimens; perform a routine urinalysis and explain the principles of each test; describe the composition, formation, and function of selected body fluids.  Exhibit an understanding of the anatomy and functions of the renal system; evaluate laboratory test outcomes and correlate test results with patient condition.
