Students need the approval of a faculty, administration or staff member when requesting audiovisual equipment for classroom presentations either in writing, by phone or by requesting items personally in our office.
The requesting person will be fully responsible for the equipment issued or delivered and is fully liable for any damage done to any piece of equipment.
Equipment delivered to a wrong location due to wrong information given by the requesting person is still the responsibility of the requesting person.
All equipment requiring special settings such as video/data projectors, computer sets, rooms with integrated equipment, etc, must be tested at least one working day prior to its delivery or set up. Media Services will not be responsible for any non-capability of equipment, specially without its prior testing.

Note: Requests of items for off-campus use must be accompanied by a Request to Remove Property From Campus form. All proper signatures and authorizations must be included before the item is issued out (requestor, department chair, Provost).
This form is available in our office or it can be faxed if needed.

Boom Box
This item plays compact disks and cassettes for small classroom presentations. Availability of this item is limited.
Note: This item will not be delivered to a classroom. It must be picked up in and returned back to our office by requesting person.

Cassette Player
Cassette players are available for playback or recording for classroom presentations. Students can use these items in the preview room in South 125.

Conference Phone
This item is commonly used in meetings when more than one person needs to communicate with someone thru the phone. Its availability is restricted to first come-first serve basis.

Wollensak Cassette Recorder
This item is mainly used to record meetings. Its wide range microphone can easily pick up any voice or sound around it.
The use of this item is restricted for on-campus facilities only.

16mm Projector
These projectors are available to be checked out for classroom presentation. Media personnel will assist to set reels, test film and audio output.
Transfer of 16mm to VHS format can be done at the Media Services department. A cost is mandatory.

Camcorder
This item is available to record instructional events on or off campus. Tripods and extra batteries are also available to check out. Special arrangements can be made if an operator is needed with an additional cost.
Note: This item will not be delivered to a classroom. It must be picked up in and returned back to our office by requesting person. This item should not be left unattended.

Dukane Filmstrip Projector
These projectors are available for semester basis and can be delivered anywhere in campus.

Video/Data Projector
These projectors are ideal for computer presentations in meetings, conferences or classrooms. They are compatible to most PC and Mac computers. Media personnel can assist in the set up and testing of the projectors.
Portable screens are available to check out with this item.

Laser Disc Player
This item can be requested by itself or with a television set. Some LDP are available with remote controls or barcode readers.
T113, T114, Eidman I, Q2.508, Q2.548 and Q1.102 are already available with LD players.

Overhead Projector
Every classroom in campus is equipped with an overhead on a semester basis. Nobody is allowed to remove them from its original location. If an overhead does not work properly, it must be reported to Media Services immediately.
Overhead projectors can be checked out for presentations in or off campus.
Portable screens are also available.

Slide Projectors
This item can be set up anywhere in and off campus.
Wired remote controls and empty trays are also available to check out.
Replacement bulbs are also for sale in our office.

Document Camera
This item can be set up anywhere on or off campus. It is very useful when an image is needed of something too small that needs to be shown to a large group of people. It can be connected to a TV screen, video projector or a VCR if the image needs to be recorded on to a tape.
This item is subject to availability and quantities are limited.
Some classroom have document cameras already installed.

TV/VCR
These items can be requested to view instructional videos for class presentations. Television sets are available in 27" and 32" size screens.
Remote controls for these items are available, but they must be picked up and returned personally to our office.

Computer Table
This computer table includes a PC computer and a data projector.
The PC is either a Sony Vaio (Windows Millennium) or a Dell computer (Windows XP) with the latest version of Microsoft Office (XP/2002) installed in it.  Specific software may be installed by contacting Media Services personnel prior to its use.  Computers are Administrator right protected.  Files saved on the desktop or on any other section of the disk will be deleted at the end of the semester unless previous arrangements are made.

NOTE: These items should not be left unattended. If equipment is not needed, requesting person must notify Media Services to cancel request, otherwise item will not be provided again and requesting person will be billed
to cover the expense for the lost or damaged equipment  .


 
NOTE On Internet Access: Dell units have wireless network cards installed. (Not so for the Sony Vaio)  Media Services takes no responsibility for connection failure.
Media Services reserves the right to cancel any delivery due to bad weather that may damage these units.

Portable Screen
This item is available to be checked out for in or off campus presentations. These items are easy to set up. Media carries 5', 6' and 8' wide screens in stock for various uses and needs.
Off campus requests must be submitted with a Request to Remove Property from Campus with all appropriate signatures.
All classrooms in campus have permanently installed screen. To replace damaged screen in a room, please contact our office during regular working hours.

Instructional Videos
Media Services has a library that stocks over 2500 instructional videos. Most of these are recorded in VHS format. A limited number include 3/4 and Super Beta formats.
The use of these videos is strictly for instructional purposes, only. UTB/TSC instructors are welcome to reserve any video for their classes with enough prior notice. Students and outside entities can view these videos in our preview room located in South 125. Sorry, students or outside entities can not check-out these items.
Note: All videos are subject to availability. Any loss or damage of a video will be charged to the individual or to the department.

Scantron
Media Services has a Scantron machine available for everybody who needs to use it. This machine is permanently located in our office in Cardenas South 125.
The use of the Scantron machine is free of charge, but it can not be removed from this location.

Viewing Rooms
Viewing rooms are available in Cardenas South 125 for instructional use only. Students, faculty, staff and administrators can reserve any of these room to view videos for class presentation, research, or any other instructional related purpose.
A reservation can be placed by calling our office or by just walking-in, if rooms are available.
