Activity
Classes:
Course inventory consists of 33 different sports and fitness activities
available at various times. In comparison to other institutions of higher education in
Texas, this is one of the widest variety of classes available at any state two-year and
more than most four year institutions. The variety is quite remarkable considering the
small number of faculty in the department and the limited facilities. Of
course, not all
of these courses are offered at the same time, but a wide variety of choice is available
every semester. On the average, 25 activities and 3 Fitness Concepts sections are offered
during the regular semesters with over 1,000 students enrollment.
Theory
Courses:
The theory course inventory consists of 22 undergraduate level courses. These
classes are specifically designed for the Health and Human Performance major and minor. The number of
majors has grown dramatically over the past 10 years, ranging from 122 majors in 1985 to
over 200 majors in 1996.
