About John H. Hunter
Mr. Hunter was a member of the Texas Southmost College Board of Trustees from 1952-1965 and was instrumental in much
of the growth and progress of TSC. He was also a primary influence in the creation of Rancho del Cielo, a biological study station owned
and operated by TSC, which is located in a cloud forest near Gomez Farias, Tamps., Mexico.
Mr. Hunter was a local Brownsville businessman who took over the local dealership for Frigidaire products in 1929.
Hunter served as the president of Charro Days in 1941 and 1942. He was a
former president of the Brownsville Rotary Club and the Brownsville Chamber of
Commerce. Our library remains indebted to John H. Hunter for his substantial
contribution to our special collection of local history books that created the
foundation for this valuable resource.
