Enrollment management and planning are not new concepts at UTB/TSC. Considerable financial resources and human effort have been expended in this area, including the publication of several reports. While accomplishments have been realized, too few of the recommendations resulting from those reports have been implemented. Too many dis-connects and inefficiencies continue to impede our progress.
Those concerns can be resolved through enrollment planning. Enrollment planning is about developing and implementing a coherent strategy for the recruitment, retention, and graduation of our students. It is the single most important process to be undertaken by an institution of higher education. It requires that we look at ourselves, our departments, and our Divisions and determine how we currently impact enrollment planning. We must then have the courage to change. The work of the Task Force on Enrollment Planning was one important step in that process.
The Task Force’s recommendations are thoughtful and far-reaching in their potential impact. The Task Force, which was comprised of four Working Groups (Customer Service, Programs and Courses, Recruitment, and Retention) did a very thorough job. Thanks, again, to the members of the Task Force who, due to their commitment and dedication to UTB/TSC, were willing to take on this extra task. Special thanks, also, to the Chairs of the Task Force. Each of them provided exceptional leadership for a challenging assignment - organize and facilitate the work of a large and diverse group of people to arrive at meaningful recommendations on complicated topics in a short amount of time. This report would not have been possible without them.
UTB/TSC is a jewel along the Rio Grande. The higher education opportunities that it provides to the region are exemplary. Our community university has a rich history and bright future. The work of this Task Force was undertaken in the spirit of moving us forward to realize that potential.
