James Storbeck

James E. Storbeck received his Ph.D. in Urban & Public Systems Analysis from the University of Texas at Austin. His interdisciplinary doctoral work at the Center for Cybernetic Studies in the College of Business focused on the siting of multilevel ambulance systems in an urban environment. Since then, his research has included diverse topics such as location theory & analysis, managerial efficiency in banking, regionalization & economic development in China, performance-based budgeting in youth corrections, evaluating the efficiency of regulated water utilities in England, and assessing the performance of UK Coastguard stations. Prior to coming to UTB, Dr. Storbeck taught business and public administration courses at several institutions, including Ohio State University, the University of Strathclyde (Scotland), the University of Warwick (England), and the University of Stockholm (Sweden). He now teaches courses in public policy and management. His research interests include public sector operations analysis, program evaluation, benchmarking, cognitive structures in performance assessment, the postmodern turn in social science modeling, business and empire in America, and organizing the identity of ‘goodness’.
