Dr. Kenneth Saxon holds a DMA in piano performance from the University of Alabama and both a MM and BM degree in piano performance from Shorter College. He is dedicated to performing contemporary works and has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout the United States and in Mexico. Dr. Saxon recorded Kawai Shiu’s Clear Shade, music of Kawai Shiu (SSR0004) and Shiu’s Winter Tide for CD, eXchange: China (CRI805). He also premiered a new solo work commissioned from composer, Kawai Shiu. Dr. Saxon has recently released a recording of Preludes, Op. 32 (complete) by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Recently, his article, “Teaching Sight-Reading: Old Saws and New Tools for Effective Sight-Reading Skills” appeared online at the Piano Pedagogy Forum. Dr. Saxon coordinates Collaborative Piano at UTB/TSC, teaches keyboard skills and accompanying, and is the Director of Music Graduate Studies. Return to Faculty Directory |
