Dr. Sue Zanne Williamson Urbis is the 2004 recipient of the Houston Endowed Chair for Civic Engagement and the 2002 recipient of the University of Texas Chancellor’s Council Outstanding Teaching Excellence Award. An associate professor of music, she holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Arizona, a master’s degree in clarinet performance and communications from Corpus Christi State University, and a BMEd in music education with piano performance emphasis from Sam Houston State University. She has pursued graduate studies in the Kodaly Method and has earned Orff Level I & II certification. Dr. Williamson Urbis is an active clinician, presenter, adjudicator, researcher, reviewer, and performer. She has presented sessions at the Texas Music Educators Association and at the Music Educators National Conference. As a clarinetist and pianist, she has performed with the Catalina Chamber Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony, South Texas Festival Orchestra, and the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony. On harpsichord, she premiered a new edition of J. S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto in F Major #2 in Houston, Texas. In addition, Dr. Williamson Urbis maintains an active schedule performing chamber music in the United States and Mexico. Dr. Williamson Urbis currently serves as chair of the UTB/TSC Fine Arts Department. Return to Faculty Directory |
