Martha Placeres holds degrees from the Puebla State Music Conservatory and a Masters degree from the University of Texas-Brownsville. A gifted violinist, she has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Mexico City and the Puebla Chamber Orchestra. She has performed at the National Convention of Orchestral Conductors at Tlaxcala, Mexico, the National Orchestra Convention in Mexico City, and the Texas Chamber Music Festival in Austin. In addition to her busy performing schedule, she recently published an exhaustive work about the violin in Sintesis, an important journal in Mexico. Ms. Placeres is the Director of the University Symphony Orchestra and teaches music theory, aural skills, chamber music, violin, viola, and cello.
