Dr. Daniel Hunter-Holly holds a DMA in vocal performance from the Ohio State University, a MM from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a BM from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is an active recitalist, specializing in American art song and French mélodie. Past teachers include Elizabeth Mosher, Dr. Robin Rice, and Dr. Robert Wells; additionally, he has pursued vocal studies with Trish McCaffrey and Fred Carama. As a participant at Songfest, Dr. Hunter-Holly worked with master teachers Martin Katz, Graham Johnson, Alan Smith, and Craig Smith; additional masterclasses include Arlene Shrut, Angelina Réaux, and Tom Jabor. Research interests include the intersection of music theory and performance practice, and applying historical vocal pedagogy techniques in the modern day studio. Dr. Hunter-Holly currently teaches applied voice, vocal chamber music, music theory and aural skills; as a member of the graduate music faculty, he also teaches all graduate-level vocal studies and vocal literature courses.
