Marimbalacrán, under the direction of Dr. Tom Nevill and David Lopez, is a unique musical ensemble dedicated to performing the traditional and popular marimba band music of Mexico, Guatemala and the United States. This group performs on hand crafted marimbas from the Nandayapa family workshop in Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas. Chiapa de Corzo is a small city situated in the west-central part of the Mexican state of Chiapas where the Nandayapa family has been making traditional marimbas for over 100 years
