UTB/TSC General Scholarships

UTB/TSC General Scholarships are those that are administered by the Financial Aid Office. In addition to merit and/or financial need, many of the UTB/TSC General Scholarships have specific requirements such as classification, major, university and community involvement, career goals or leadership skills. The scholarship donors and/or the university establish the specific criteria for each scholarship. General scholarships are generally reserved for students pursuing their first bachelor's degree.

Application Process

Qualified students interested in being considered for a UTB/TSC General Scholarship must complete the UTB/TSC General Scholarship Application. The UTB/TSC General Scholarship Application is available online during application periods. Students must reapply each year for scholarships, regardless of whether they received a scholarship in the previous academic year. Incomplete applications will be invalid.

NOTE: Be certain that you meet all of the qualifications before applying.

•  Complete and submit the 2008-2009 UTB/TSC General Scholarship Application and other required documentation by March 3, 2008 5p.m. cst

•  Incoming Freshman (current high school seniors) are required to submit an official high school transcript to the Financial Aid Office immediately after completing the application process

•  New Transfer Students are required to submit an official transcript of all previous colleges/universities attended to the Admissions Office

Application Period

For the 2007-2008 academic year, students must apply between January 2, 2008 – March 1, 2008. General scholarship applications submitted after March 1, 2008 will not be considered.

Selection Process

The UTB/TSC Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients through a competitive process. Members of the committee include faculty, administrators and Student Government Association–appointed students. Awards are made to the most competitive applicants. The number of scholarships awarded varies each year.

Scholarship Notifications

Students selected to receive a scholarship by the committee will be sent an award letter. All applicants will be notified of the committee's decision during the latter part of the spring semester. Recipients who choose to decline the scholarship must return the signed award letter.

Disbursement of Scholarship Funds

Scholarship awards are applied directly to the student's university account at the Business Office. Unless otherwise specified, funding is divided equally for the fall and spring semester. A check for remaining balances will be mailed to students by the first class day of the semester.
