COURSE DESCRIPTION:

English 2305 will focus on several authors and masterpieces of British literature. We will focus on at least three literary genres including drama, poetry, and the novel. Emphasis will be placed on close reading of the text and on writing critical essays based on those readings.

                 6th ed. New York: Norton, 1996.
             Shakespeare, William.  Othello.  New York: Penguin, 1997.

GRADES:
 Quizzes     10%
Exam 1     30%
Exam 2     30%
Final         30%


Class Policies:

1. Attendance is Mandatory. You may be dropped from the class if you have three (2) absences. Excessive tardiness counts as an absence.

2. Reading quizzes will be frequent, so be prepared for them. There will be no make-up for quizzes. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.

3. Students should be prepared to participate in class activities, bring text, and writing materials.

Conferences:

Please feel free to see me during designated office hours. This time is set aside for you for any help or guidance I can give you with your work and for us to discuss any problems you may be having with the course. If you need to speak with me but cannot during my office hours, we can make arrangements to meet at another time.
