Dr. Steve Wilson was recently hired and will join the department as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Fall Semester of 2008.  Dr. Wilson has prior teaching experience at the University of North Florida and Clayton State University.  Dr. Wilson has prior experience working in the criminal justice system; he was part of the Deland Police Department in Deland, Florida and also served as a Crime Scene Investigator for the department.  Dr. Wilson earned a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  His research focuses on various issues in policing.

 

2007-2008 Academic Year
The department also hired Professor Michael Lytle as Associate Master Technical Instructor.  Professor Lytle will be teaching courses in Forensic Investigations and police administration.

Dr. Noel Otu was recently promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor.  Dr. Otu has been a faculty member in the department since 2001.  We appreciate Dr. Otu's hard work and dedication to the department.  Congratulations on your promotion. 

Professor Michael Lytle was recently appointed to the Curriculum Committee for the Certified Medical Investigator Program for the American Board of Forensic Medicine.  Congratulations to Professor Lytle on this important appointment.

The Department of Criminal Justice has announced three different scholarship opportunities available to criminal justice students: the Keith A Ferguson scholarship, the Amador R. Rodriguez scholarship, and the College of Liberal Arts Incentive Scholarship. 

Dr. Susan Ritter's textbook Briefs of Leading Cases in Corrections will be published in its 5th Edition.  The textbook is co-authored with Renaldo del Carmen of Sam Houston State University and Betsy Witt.

Dr. Kevin Buckler had a manuscript published in the Journal of Criminal Justice.  He also had two manuscripts published in the Journal of Crime and Justice.

Dr. Patti Salinas and Dr. Susan Ritter traveled with several students to New York City.  They participated in a marathon and visited several historical criminal justice sites.
