Should all college students be tested for tuberculosis prior to enrollment?

“I think students should be tested for tuberculosis prior to entering campus. This part of the country is right across from the border. … So, I think that as a school and for the safety of every student you should have prior testing for tuberculosis or inoculation, either or, but it is necessary.”

Alexis Reyes
Senior communication major

“I think so, because if it’s a problem and it can infect other students then it can also infect the student body, and so I think it should. It should be a kind of requirement and have a low price, so it’s affordable.”

MaryLee Saldivar
Freshman education and kinesiology major

“I believe we made a big issue of it, but TB is a big issue, and we should only test those who came in, for sure, contact and not subject everyone to testing.”

Marc Fernandez

[No, because] it violates the privacy of a student.”

Melissa Ambriz
Senior criminal justice major
