The NELNET Scholarship Giveaway awards 10 grand prizes of $25,000 and 750 first prizes of $1,000 to U.S. citizens and legal residents. Applicants must be age 16 and older, attend a college or university and be enrolled in undergraduate programs only. For more information and an application, visit www.nelnet.com/win

The Texas Appleseed Diversity Legal Scholars Program’s selection is based on criteria such as academic achievement, economic need, recommendations and motivation to attend law school. Scholarship recipients receive a free LSAT preparation course. The deadline to apply is Wednesday. For more information and an application, visit http://texasappleseed.net/projects_diversity.shtml.

The 2008-2009 911 Education Fund Scholarship is available to children of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack, including children of police, fire safety and medical personnel killed or suffering debilitating injuries. Students must enroll full time and meet satisfactory academic progress at a public/private two- or four-year institution. The deadline to apply is May 15. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Scholarship Program of 2008-2009 is available to students who demonstrate financial need, meet the specified criteria for the scholarship to which they are applying and attend a HACU-member institution at the time applications are completed and scholarship awards are made. The Jane M.  Klauseman: Women in Business Scholarship awards $5,000 to students who are women of nationality, pursuing a degree in business, eligible to enter the third/fourth year of an undergraduate program at an accredited college/university, achieved outstanding academic record during the first two/three years of academic studies and demonstrate intent to complete a program in business by achieving success in business-related subjects.
