On May 10, 886 students will graduate with 1,007 degrees and
certificates being awarded, university officials say.
Seventy-nine certificates, 425 associate’s degrees, 429
baccalaureate degrees, one graduate-level certificate and 73
master’s degrees will be conferred.
The School of Business will have two graduates receiving a new
baccalaureate degree in international business. The degree was
formerly called a general business degree with a specialization
in international business.
Dr. Ciro Valent Sumaya, a Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient,
will address the audience at the ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m.
on the Student Union Lawn.
Sumaya is a Brownsville native and attended Texas Southmost
College from May 1959 to August 1960. He has been the founding
dean of the School of Rural Public Health at the Texas A&M
University System Health Science Center since 1997 and holds the
school’s Cox Endowed Chair in Medicine, according to a news
release from the Office of News and Information.
