Trial for theft
suspect rescheduled for today

The trial of Eugenio Garza Rodriguez has been
reset for 8:30 a.m. today before 137th District Court Judge Leonel
Alejandro.
Garza Rodriguez, 38, is accused of stealing
$119,815 from the Student Affairs Division between January 1999 and
December 2001, along with 37-year-old Alberto Peña and his twin
brother, Bernardo Peña, according to court documents.
Eugenio Garza Rodriguez, of Meadow Brook Drive,
was originally scheduled to go to trial Oct. 16, according to 357th
Court Administrator Blanca Hinojosa.
Bernardo Peña pleaded guilty to theft in March
2004, was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication and ordered to
pay restitution to the university.
Alberto Peña, a former UTB/TSC employee,
pleaded guilty to theft in October 2004, was sentenced to 10 years
deferred adjudication and ordered to pay one-third of the money in
restitution.
Garza Rodriguez is accused of theft, a
second-degree felony. |
