Scholarships

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. To be eligible, students must be of Hispanic heritage, be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, be undergraduates or graduate students enrolled full time in a degree-seeking program at an accredited U.S. college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam. Students must also have earned at least 12 undergraduate units in a U.S. accredited college or university, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, have applied for federal financial aid and must be pursuing their first undergraduate or graduate degree. The National Academies offer predoctoral, dissertation and postdoctoral Ford Foundation Fellowships to U.S. citizens or nationals. Applicants must have evidence of superior academic achievement, be committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, be enrolled or planning to enroll in an eligible research-based program leading to a doctor of philosophy or doctor of science degree at a U.S. educational institution, and not have earned a doctoral degree at any time, in any field. The deadline to apply is Nov. 16 for predoctoral candidates and Nov. 30 for dissertation and postdoctoral candidates.

 

The UTB/TSC Alumni Association offers a $500 scholarship. Applicants must be a member of the UTB/TSC Alumni Association, a junior, senior or graduate student in good standing, a U.S. citizen or resident alien and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications are available at the Financial Assistance Office, Tandy Hall 206. The deadline to apply is Nov. 30.

 

The Miller Brewing Co. offers a $2,000 Federación de Futbol Scholarship to Latino students. Applicants must pursue a degree in business or related field, have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above, be eligible for financial aid from a federal or state-funded program and maintain full-time enrollment status throughout the duration of the scholarship term. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, must submit an essay on who has had the greatest impact on their lives and an essay on what they hope to achieve personally and professionally after college.
