Meetings

On the air

Jennifer Roback Morse, a senior research fellow in economics at the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty and author of “Smart Sex: Finding Life-Long Love in a Hook-Up World” (Spence Publishing, 2005), will discuss the book on “Society Under Fire,” which airs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday on KMBH-FM (88.9). David Pearson, professor of sociology in the Behavioral Sciences Department, hosts the program.

CPR classes

The UTB/TSC Medical and Health Sciences Continuing Education Department offers the American Heart Association’s Initial Basic Life Support/CPR class from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Life and Health Sciences 2.502. Religious symposium

The UTB/TSC Communication Program will host a symposium where a panel of religious leaders representing Judaism, Islam and Christianity will share their beliefs and traditional teachings at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the SET-B Lecture Hall. MCAT prep course

Frankie Avalon concert

Frankie Avalon, the star of the 1960s movies “Beach Blanket Bingo” and Bikini” and a cast member of the 1978 film version of “Grease,” will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Fort Brown Memorial Center. Physics lecture

The Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy will host a lecture series titled “Monday Night Physics.  The first lecture, set for 7 tonight in the SET-B third-floor conference room, will be presented by Mario Diaz, director of the Center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy. Graduation applications
